A Peoples Movement that Transcends Partisanship is Unstoppable

Welcome to Reboot America—where citizens unite with principled politicians to break the two-party corporate duopoly and renew America’s democratic republic

Sparking a Reboot America Movement

Reboot America is uniting citizens, principled politicians, and democracy organizations into a powerful grassroots movement. We need a 1776 moment to break free from the two-party corporate duopoly. It’s time to renew our democratic republic and advance the ideals our nation was founded on—to be a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The Reboot America Pledge

The Reboot America Pledge is a six point pledge to be signed by a postpartisan alliance of candidates and representatives from across the political spectrum. This pledge unites them in upholding democratic principles and using technology for a more direct and accountable representative democracy. All politicians are encouraged to join, including those from the two major parties, independents, and third party candidates.

Signing the pledge differentiates major party politicians from the corporate establishment, making them Reboot Democrats and Reboot Republicans. Imagine a founding post-partisan group of politicians signing this pledge and making a joint press release–this will get America’s attention!

As pioneering representatives take the Reboot Pledge and govern this way, it will pressure other politicians to do the same. Refusing to sign the pledge will be difficult to justify, kickstarting a race to the top.

1. Reject Big Money Donations

I will not accept contributions from special interest groups or corporations. My allegiance will remain firmly with the constituents I represent.

2. Champion Anti Corruption

I will support and advocate for measures designed to reduce the influence of big money in politics, including legislation such as the Anti-Corruption Act, to ensure a government that works for all Americans.

3. Advance Electoral Reforms

I will actively work to implement electoral reforms like ranked choice voting, open primaries, and other initiatives that make elections more fair and representative. These changes will ensure that our representatives are elected based on merit rather than being propped up by antidemocratic election rules.

4. Listen to and Engage with my Constituents

I will actively and frequently seek to understand the concerns and priorities of my constituents through town halls, surveys, and digital platforms. By fostering open and constructive discussions about critical issues, I will ensure my constituents’ voices are heard and that I am prepared to legislate based on their priorities and preferences.

5. Utilize Digital Democracy Tools

We are living in the age of the internet and should strategically leverage digital tools to enhance the democratic process. I will use digital tools to gather insights from my constituents and better understand their perspectives. These tools will help me serve more effectively and transparently.

6. Do the Will of My Constituents

I am committed to representing the voices of my constituents. While I may advocate for policies I believe in, I will ultimately legislate in accordance with the consensus views of the people I serve, as determined through regular engagement and dialogue.

The People’s Agenda

There are hundreds of policies already supported by a majority of Americans from both major parties—many with supermajority support—yet they aren’t becoming law because our representatives aren’t acting on them. Reboot America isn’t about left or right policies, it’s about the consensus view of our citizens.

Through the power of our unity, we can finally close the gap between what the people want and what actually gets passed. If we can rise above the manufactured divisions that keep the status quo in place and join forces on the issues we already agree on, we can make massive, tangible progress that improves everyday life.

So, what kinds of popular policies could become law if our representatives truly worked for us?

68% of Americans, a super majority, support a Public option for Health Insurance. We pay nearly twice as much for health insurance as other developed countries, that’s $4,000 extra per person, and we have worse health outcomes.

67% of Americans support a $15 an hour Minimum Wage. The minimum wage would be over $21 today if it had kept up with inflation.

A whopping 74% of Americans, support the Congressional Stock Ban, which would ban congressional members from trading stocks while in office.

73% of US adults support guaranteed Paid Sick Leave for all workers.

84% support Expanding Medicare coverage to include dental, vision, and hearing.

88% support Lowering Medicare Prescription Drug Prices

And last but not least, 87% of Americans support the Anticorruption Act, which would:

  1. Make it illegal for politicians to take money from lobbyists.
  2. Prevent politicians from fundraising during working hours
  3. Stop donors from hiding behind secret-money groups
  4. And close the revolving door
